Weasels. It's unethical and it's ripping off a fellow cartoonist.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. There is a difference between young cartoonists who try to ape the drawings of MacNelly and Oliphant and those who obviously trace the artwork of the masters. Jack Ohman, who I admire, used to draw cartoons that were replicas of MacNelly when Ohman was the cartoonist for the Daily at the University of Minnesota, back when I was in high school in the late 70's, and when he was the Detroit Free Press cartoonist during my college days. However, Ohman developed his own unique style when he started to work for the Portland Oregonian. (Ohman got his big break with Tribune Media when MacNelly temporarily retired from political cartooning around 1983 to concentrate on the "Shoe" cartoon strip.) I admire Tom Richmond. However, an argument could be made that his work is similar to Mad Magazine artist Jack Davis and Pogo cartoonist Walt Kelley. My point is, nothing is new under the sun. I'm very much influenced by Roy Peterson of the Vancouver Sun and Bob Taylor of the Dallas Times Herald. In my opinion, protecting your artistic and intellectual property is impossible because of high speed internet.
Tim, These people didn't imitate Richmond's style, they took his caricatures and are passing them off as their own work. If you go to his web site and see his samples, then see what is on their boards -- it's HIS caricatures. It's kinda like when someone takes an Oliphant or a KAL and traces over the actual cartoon. It's plagiarism.
