No Yolk! Cartoon Participation Requested!

Inspired by the Argus Leader asking for readers to submit pictures of their decorated eggs - right-click the picture and work your digital magic upon the incredible, non-edible egg. No mess, no vinegar smell .... no big amounts of egg salad to eat days after decorating! Best of all, no eggs were harmed in this production.

Submit your digital decoration back to

If you don't have digital imaging software, there is a freebie out there that runs on Mac and PC platforms called GIMP. There are also lots of tutorials on the site too. (It's safe, we have had it installed on a couple of our household computers for awhile now.)

I'll exhibit any eggs as they come in. I could even round up a prize to be presented at the Cartoon Exhibit at Dunn Bros. on May 5th at the reception for any egg that generates the most comments.

Open Thread: Newspapers, etc.

Tim's excellent comment inspired me to look up an article I had read last December and to open up a discussion thread.

Some thoughts to discuss: What is the present or the future for editorial, gag, or strip artists?

What is the future of print media?

Would MORE comic strips, political cartoons, etc. sell more print media?

Cartoonist Day Exhibit - LHS at Main Library!

Here's a sample of what will be on exhibit at the Sioux Falls Public Library Main Branch as part of celebration of Cartoonist Day. Sioux Falls Lincoln High School Graphics students produced caricatures, first drawing in pencil and inking, then digitally coloring them.

Reception will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12 Noon. Every one is invited to look at the exhibit and congratulate and meet the artists.

YouTube Caricature Find ...

Not one of our own (SF Cartoonists) group -- yet ---
It appears to me he sped up the video a wee bit, but left the sound at normal speed. Still, fun to watch.

Any of us here have a YouTube item on????

Let's Hop To It!!!!

WELCOME to the Sioux Falls Area Cartoonists Blog! This should be a great way to communicate, spotlight cartoonist activities, spotlight each cartoonist and generally have fun and cartoon fellowship!

To keep our focus on the fine art of cartooning and to keep things positive and friendly, a few guidelines for posting and comments. Topics to avoid:
* Prices
*Politics (heated debates/dialogue, that is. We do have editorial cartoonists left, right, and in the middle.)
*Religion

The rest we'll make up as we move along!
