The Funny Papers

It's what my Grandparents called the comics section. Nowadays comic strips are shrinking -- or just not run. Where can one turn to read the funny papers, er, comic strips? Newspapers online. I absolutely love this site ... here you can catch up on 9 Chickweed Lane or be introduced to Pearls Before Swine or wait until midnight and find out if Paul the helicoptor pilot or Anthony will wind up winning Elizabeth's heart in For Better or For Worse. It's "The Chron" -- comic strip haven!

Wizard of Id -- Brant Parker

John alerted us to this news.

"Brant Parker, co-creator of The Wizard of Id died yesterday at the age of 86 in Lynchburg Va. His death was preceded only by 8 days of Johnny Hart, the other creator of Wizard of Id. “Id” will be continued by his son, Jeff, who has been working on the feature since 1997."

Just happened to notice this news on CNN online. I know that Ken had mentioned enjoying Hart's work. Mr. Hart had a stroke while working on a storyboard.

Thinking of Hart's family and those cartoonists that knew him personally. Very unexpected news ...

Egg rolling in from Wyoming!

Wyoming Sonya sends forth this festive egg! Sonya is also a born and raised in SD cartoonist -- we were both art majors from Northern. Sonya's comic strips that appeared in the Northern Exponent were great. In today's terms "edgy"! :-)
